A Boho Buffalo Wedding

On June 10th, 2016 Peerless Events traveled out to Buffalo, NY, to spend a few days on a gorgeous property, and conduct the wedding of two of the sweetest people to walk the earth.
The coordination began the day before the wedding, with the set up of not one, but two tents. One for the main reception, and one in the apple orchard for the “Midnight Garden” after party (yeah, it’s as awesome as it sounds).
The couple came all the way from San Francisco to get married on the groom’s family’s property, and I’m pretty sure they brought all the coolest people from the west coast with them. San Fran must have been very, very quiet that weekend.

The night before, myself and a staff member helped to coordinate the ceremony. It was beautifully thought out, with 3 different songs to bring different moods down the aisle. The music cascaded from a deep, moody, mountain chanting, into a bright springy walk. The brides cousin (a professional ballerina) danced down the aisle in lieu of a flower girl and I was covered in goose-bumps.
There was no shortage of laughter in any aspect of the night. This couple exuded light and color, and it was truly contagious.

The tables were set with clear glass plates, sprigs of greenery and an actual truck-load of flowers. Flower Moxie delivered flowers the day before and my staff and myself had so much fun putting table arrangements together. We went back and fourth on napkin and linen colors a lot, as we didn’t want to take away from those bright center squares (all hand-sewn). I’m so glad we decided on highlighting some more greenery!

Peerless Events provides in house catering, and this menu was just as eclectic as the guests!
We made a custom menu, all to be done fresh off the grill offsite. Seriously, no commercial kitchen, no electrical outlets, no fuss!
We set up our chef under a large oak tree for some shade, set up the grills and fed 150 people. It was a breeze.

The menu consisted of an Tapas Style Appetizer Station for Hors D’oeuvres with house made veggie spring rolls with ponzu, caprese salad skewers, tuna poke on a crispy wonton, and marinated manchego cheese.
For dinner there was an American BBQ Station with slow smoked pork shoulder, house made BBQ bourbon BBQ sauce, corn bread, and ramp and new potato salad.
An Asian style station had green bean, tomato and mint salad, Nouc-Cham marinated chicken thighs and Vietnamese pork patties. On the grill we steamed some fresh rice and served it with a vegetarian Thai green curry (the guests could not stop raving over it).
We stocked the buffet with colorful, seasonal sides like grilled asparagus with lemon and fennel, a quinoa salad with citrus, fresh herbs and cucumber.
The wedding fell on a strawberry moon, and by request of the bride we garnished each plate with wild local strawberries!

The cake and donuts came from a local shop in Rochester, Scratch Bakeshop, and let me tell you….they were AMAZING.

As we do with most of our wedding and events, we curated the bar program. Honestly, get drinks through your caterer! It’s the easiest way to go, as we can set up a bar literally ANYWHERE.
The bride is a craft cocktail aficionado, and her full time job out in San Francisco is creating bar programs. Naturally we spent some time working closely with the bride and our bar manager to create a custom craft cocktail menu for the wedding that the guests absolutely loved. We even created custom “welcome waters” with the bride, using fresh fruit and essential oil blends for guests to be able to “choose their mood”.

The wedding was amazing, and after many months of work and coordinating, seeing this couple smile the ENTIRE evening was wonderful! Thanks so much to Danielle, Jason, and your families for putting your trust and day in our hands. I would work with you over and over again!
These photo’s seem to perfectly capture every bit of light an happiness from the day, and I can’t thank Vita Bella Photography enough. If you’re going to hire a photographer, please give these extremely talented ladies a call, you will not be disappointed.

Beautifully done Peerless Events, Savannah Pearman. The whole affair was truly magical as were/are Jason & Danielle, Mary Lee and too many others to mention. It is comforting to know putting together and pulling off that wedding will have been the hard part of their beautiful lives together. We were/are all so blessed to be a part of it.
